1. (1) The practical nurse may not perform any of the following IV therapy procedures:

   1. (a) initiate blood, blood components, and plasma volume expanders;
   2. (b) access or program an implanted IV infusion pump;
   3. (c) insert or remove any IV access device placed for central or midline administration;
   4. (d) manage central venous access devices for hemodynamic monitoring;
   5. (e) perform repair of central or midline venous access devices; or
   6. (f) perform arterial sticks, arterial blood draws, or arterial inline flushes.

2. (2) The practical nurse may not administer the following IV medications or IV fluids:

   1. (a) oxytocics;
   2. (b) neonatal and pediatric medications;
   3. (c) antineoplastic and chemotherapy drugs;
   4. (d) investigational and experimental drugs;
   5. (e) colloid therapy;
   6. (f) hyperosmolar solutions not appropriate for peripheral venous infusion;
   7. (g) thrombolytic or fibrinolytic agents;
   8. (h) tissue plasminogen activators, or immunoglobulins;
   9. (i) medications for purposes of procedural sedation, moderate sedation, or anesthesia;
   10. (j) medications requiring titration;
   11. (k) medications or fluids via an epidural, intrathecal, intraosseous, umbilical route, or ventricular reservoir; or
   12. (l) medications or fluids via an arteriovenous fistula or graft, except for dialysis per ARM 24.159.1010.
