1. (1) Per 37-31-304 and 37-31-305, MCA, or ARM 24.121.621, applicants must pass the National Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) theory and practical examinations or their equivalents that align with the license sought.

   1. (a) Minimum examination scores are 75 percent on the theory examination and 75 percent on the practical examination.
2. (2) Students enrolled in a Montana-licensed school may be made eligible to test by the school following completion of 90 percent of their educational requirements.
3. (3) Apprentices who have completed 90 percent of their apprenticeships and meet the requirements of 37-31-304(1)(a), MCA, may be made eligible to test by the Montana Registered Apprenticeship Program.
