1. (1) All areas, fixtures, furniture, floors, walls, windows, doors, and receptacles must be clean, safe, and adequately lighted.

2. (2) Carpeting is prohibited in the working areas and dispensaries of all premises licensed on or after November 19, 2004.

   1. (a) Premises licensed prior to this date must use appropriate, nonabsorbent floor covering over the carpet.
   2. (b) Upon alteration or remodeling of the premises, carpet must be removed and replaced with appropriate, nonabsorbent floor covering.

3. (3) All premises must have:

   1. (a) one sink convenient to the work areas, but not within a restroom, with hot and cold running water and:

      1. (i) connected to a sewer or septic system; or
      2. (ii) connected to a wastewater holding tank and meeting applicable wastewater laws; and
      3. (iii) a liquid soap dispenser and single service towels or an air dryer;
   2. (b) one covered soiled linen container;
   3. (c) one covered garbage container; and
   4. (d) one enclosed cabinet for storing clean towels and linens.

4. (4) Licensees must:

   1. (a) place garbage in easily cleanable, leak proof, plastic lined, nonabsorbent covered containers and dump frequently to prevent overflow;
   2. (b) sweep hair clippings after each client; and
   3. (c) dispose of chemicals, liquids, implements, aluminum oxide crystals, or approved corundum in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
5. (5) If the premises has a public restroom used to store chemicals used in a licensee’s practice, the chemicals must be stored in a locked cabinet.
