1. (1) Before an applicant is issued an apprentice permit he or she must correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions on an examination administered by the department.
2. (2) The examination must cover care and handling of falconry raptors, federal and state laws and regulations relevant to falconry, and other appropriate subject matter.
3. (3) Any applicant failing to score 80 percent will only be allowed to retake the written examination at 30-day intervals. Applicants may not take the examination more than three times in one calendar year.
