1. 1. An applicant for license by examination shall appear at a time, place, and before such persons as the board may designate to be examined by means of written and practical tests in order to demonstrate that the applicant is qualified to engage in the practice of fitting hearing instruments. Nothing in this examination shall imply that the applicant shall possess the degree of medical competence normally expected of physicians.
2. 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection 1 of this section, any applicant who is an audiologist licensed pursuant to chapter 345, RSMo, and who holds the certification of clinical competence or is completing the clinical fellowship year offered by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association shall not be required to pass either the written exam or the practical exam for licensure as a hearing instrument specialist in this state.
