1. 1. The state auditor shall have the authority to audit solid waste management districts created under section 260.305 in the same manner as the auditor may audit any agency of the state.
2. 2. Beginning August 28, 2012, the state auditor shall conduct an audit of each solid waste management district created under section 260.305 and thereafter shall conduct audits of each solid waste management district as he or she deems necessary. The state auditor may request reimbursement from the district for the costs of conducting the audit.
