PURPOSE: The purpose of this rule is to set forth certain general policies and regulations of the University of Missouri with regard to tuition and residence. This rule may be found at sections 7.16 and 7.17 of the Collected Rules and Regulations of the University of Missouri.
- (1) Tuition is free to a student who is a fulltime academic or administrative staff member of the university or is the unmarried 6 CSR 250-6 HIGHER EDUCATION
minor child (or one to whom such staff member stands in place of parent as set out in 6 CSR 250-4.040(3)) or spouse of such staff member.
- (2) Tuition is free to a student who is admitted under a specific agreement between an institution in the student’s state of residence and the university providing for reciprocal waiver of tuition.
- (3) If a Missouri resident stands in the place of parent of an unmarried nonresident minor, maintaining that relationship in a bona fide home, and if it appears that the relationship is reasonably related to the general welfare of the minor and is not merely an attempt to make a Missouri education available or tuition free for the minor, and if it further appears that the person who stands in the place of parent provides and in that relationship has for at least one (1) year prior to registration provided without reimbursement or right of reimbursement at least one-half (1/2) the support of the minor, the minor shall be exempt from tuition and other nonresident regulations during the period of such relationship and for a period of one (1) full semester after termination of any of the incidents of the relationship stated in this rule.
