Adoption or Changing of School District Names

PURPOSE: The State Board of Education has the authority to establish regulations governing the adoption or changing of the names of any six-director school district. This rule establishes those regulations.
- (1) The official name adopted by any six (6)- director school district in the state shall include the number and letter designation, for example, C-2 or R-IV, as used in the proceedings where the district was formed.
- (2) The board of education of any six (6)- director district may omit county names from the official name chosen for the district.
- (3) The name of the community may or may not be included in the official district name.
- (4) The secretary of the board of education of each six (6)-director district, within ten (10) days after adoption of a district name, shall notify the State Board of Education and the county clerk of the name adopted.
