PURPOSE: This rule fulfills the requirement specified under section 536.023, RSMo (1986). The intent of this rule is to describe the division’s functions, objectives and organizational structure.
- (1) The purpose of the division is to broaden and strengthen the economy of the state by helping create new and improved employment opportunities through the location of industry and encouraging the expansion of existing business and industry.
- (2) The division provides the leadership and supports state, regional and local industrial development corporations, chambers of commerce, labor organizations and other public and private groups in the establishment of new and the further development of existing business enterprise.
- (3) The division develops pertinent information regarding the industrial opportunities in the state.
- (4) The division investigates means to develop markets for industrial products and promotes the industrial use of agriculture, mineral and forest products.
- (5) In discharging its duties and responsibilities the division is comprised of several sections which perform administrative, marketing and research functions.
- (6) The methods by which the public may obtain information from or make submissions or requests to the division are by telephone, letter or personal visit to the division’s office. The division’s address is Economic Development Programs, P.O. Box 118, Jefferson City, MO 65102, (314) 751-4241.
