PURPOSE: This rule defines program changes which require board approval, notification, or both.

1. (1) Board approval is required for changes of the following:

   1. (A) Substantial revision of curriculum;
   2. (B) Length of program;

   3. (C) Increase in number of students by enrollment, transfer, or readmission by more than one (1) beyond the number approved by the board—

      1. 1. Any program expansion that would increase annual

student admissions by twenty (20) or more students and/or establish a new satellite location shall be considered a major program expansion; and

1. 2. The board will electronically notify nursing programs of

requests for major program expansion;

1. (D) Pilot program/project;
2. (E) Relocation of the program or any of its components; or
3. (F) Substantial change in program delivery modalities.

1. (2) The request for board approval of program changes shall include:

   1. (A) Narrative description of proposed change(s);
   2. (B) Rationale for proposed changes including consistency with the program’s philosophy and/or mission and graduate competencies;
   3. (C) Side-by-side comparison of proposed changes and current practice, when applicable;
   4. (D) Timetable for implementation;
   5. (E) Narrative of the impact of proposed changes on the program;
   6. (F) Explanation of the impact of the proposed changes on currently enrolled students, faculty, graduates, or resources; and
   7. (G) Methods of evaluation to be used to determine the effect of the change.
2. (3) The request shall be submitted by a deadline established by the board.
3. (4) A change in name and/or address of the program shall be submitted in writing to the board within thirty (30) days of the change.

(5) A change in a program’s accreditation status by any accrediting body, to include national nursing accreditors, shall be submitted in writing to the board within thirty (30) days of the program’s notification of such.
