Dental Hygienists— Equipment Requirements for Public Health Settings

PURPOSE: The purpose of this rule is to establish the minimum requirements for dental hygienists practicing in public health settings pursuant to section 332.311, RSMo.
(1) Any location where dental services are rendered pursuant to section 332.311, RSMo, and 20 CSR 2110-2.131 must be equipped with the following:
- (A) Compressed air;
- (B) Focus lighting;
- (C) Vacuum;
- (D) Appropriate equipment to clean tooth surfaces and place sealants; and
- (E) Emergency response kit without oxygen.
- (2) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines must be complied with while rendering dental services pursuant to section 332.311, RSMo, and 20 CSR 2110-2.131.
