PURPOSE: This regulation complies with section 536.023, RSMo 1986 which requires each agency to adopt as a rule a description of its operation and the methods where the public may obtain information or make submissions or requests.
- (1) The State Fair is a division of the Department of Agriculture. The purpose of the State Fair is to encourage the development of agricultural, horticultural, mechanical, mineral, stock raising and all other industrial interests of Missouri.
(2) The Aid to Fairs program is a unit of the Division of Fairs of the Department of Agriculture.
- (A) The section is authorized to pay nonprofit county and district fairs and regularly organized or incorporated nonprofit agricultural societies having as their object the holding of shows, exhibitions or fairs for the advancement of agriculture in Missouri a percentage of certain premiums actually paid by those county, district or agricultural society shows or fairs as provided by law. Primary duties consist of the registration of fairs, auditing reimbursement reports, reimbursement of premiums on approved agricultural exhibits and filing yearly financial reports.
- (B) Counties, municipalities or other political subdivisions may be eligible for matched assistance of not to exceed two thousand five hundred dollars ($2500) annually to any one political subdivision for the purpose of new constructions, remodeling, maintaining, repairing or otherwise making fair buildings more suitable for fair purposes, upon compliance with the requirements of this act. Primary duties consist of application approval, on-site inspection, audit construction cost and reimbursement of one-half (1/2) of the building cost up to two thousand five hundred dollars ($2500) per fair per year.
