PURPOSE: This rule specifies the requirements for medical services in a hospital.

1. (1) Medical services, if provided, shall be under the medical direction of a qualified physician member of the medical staff and appointed by the governing body as chief of 19 CSR 30-20

the medical services. This director shall be responsible for implementing the rules of the medical staff governing medical privileges and the quality of medical care provided.

1. (2) Medical services shall be responsible for the medical care of all patients except those under the care of physicians or other services as defined in the medical staff or governing body bylaws.
2. (3) The activities of medical services shall be integrated with other services in the hospital.
3. (4) There shall be a process for the review and evaluation on a regular basis of the quality and appropriateness of medical services provided.
