PURPOSE: This rule establishes a policy regarding the member’s election to convert *Original authority: 104.1063, RSMo 1999; and 104.1075, from disability benefits to retirement benefits. Upon reaching normal retirement age, any member who continues to receive work-related disability benefits or long-term disability benefits may elect to continue receipt of disability benefits or may elect to begin receiving retirement benefits. Any member who reaches the end of the maximum benefit period for long-term disability or elects to retire before the end of the maximum benefit period must submit an application for retirement benefits in order to begin receiving retirement benefits. Any member who elects to begin receiving retirement benefits must submit an application for retirement benefits on forms provided by the board of trustees and the application shall be filed with the executive director of the retirement system.
