PURPOSE: This rule establishes guidelines for notification to the state retirement system by departments of state government for employees going off the state payroll because of sick leave.

1. (1) In the event of absence from employment after September 1, 1957 by a member of the system because of sickness or injury for which absence the employee is entitled to sick leave, the employing department shall give written notice on a form provided by the retirement system when the employee goes off the payroll and when the employee returns to work, or at the end of twelve (12) months’ absence, whichever is sooner. Absence because of pregnancy shall be considered absence of sickness or injury.
