PURPOSE: This rule clarifies the process to be used for issuance of replacement license tabs at no cost to an individual whose tabs have been stolen.
- (1) In the event license tabs are stolen, one
- (1) set of replacement license tabs may be issued to the applicant at no cost when a police report of the theft is provided. Only one (1) set of replacement tabs may be issued at no fee per year.
- (2) The applicant must provide proof of registration, (validated pink registration receipt) and a copy of the police report when making application for the replacement license tabs.
- (3) If the applicant is applying for license plates and license tabs that have been reported as stolen, an eight dollars fifty cents ($8.50) fee per plate is assessed for a replacement plate, but the license tabs are issued at no cost.
