PURPOSE: This rule establishes procedures for issuance of fire department license plates to Missouri’s fire marshal and three members of the fire marshal’s staff which s/he shall designate.
- (1) The department shall set aside four (4) fire department license plates bearing the configuration 000-1FD—000-4FD for exclusive issuance to the state fire marshal and three (3) designated staff members.
- (2) The fire department license plates in question shall be issued subject to payment of the registration fees for same as established in section 301.055, RSMo as well as payment of the twelve-dollar ($12) fire department license plate fee.
- (3) Application for these license plates shall be submitted to the Department of Revenue, P.O. Box 100, Jefferson City, MO 65105 and shall be accompanied by (in the case of the 12 CSR 10-23
three (3) designated employees) a notarized affidavit from the Missouri state fire marshal verifying that the applicant is employed by the state fire marshal’s office and has been designated for issuance of a fire department plate. The affidavit shall further state that should either the fire marshal or any of his/her designated employees resign or be terminated from employment, any fire department license plates in his/her possession will be surrendered before or on the last day of employment in return for regular passenger license plates with any additional fees due being assessed on a prorated basis.
- (4) Recipients of fire department plates shall be required to comply with all Missouri laws and rules relating to the titling and registration for motor vehicles.
- (5) Prior to the receipt of these plates, an applicant may surrender any regular passenger registration plates which the new fire department license plates will replace, provided the applicant pays any additional registration fees which may be due. If the fire department license plates are to be issued for a period of less than one (1) full year, the department shall assess fees due on a prorated basis. No refund will be made on the unused portion of the registration fees for any license plates surrendered in exchange for fire department license plates.
- (6) Fire department license plates may be renewed annually for the special plate fee of twelve dollars ($12) in addition to payment of the regular annual registration fee. Applications for renewal of fire department license plates shall be filed with the Department of Revenue prior to the last regular workday of September each year.
