Minn. Stat. § 168.1292
Subd. 1. General requirements and procedures.
The registrar shall issue special Olympic license plates to an applicant who:
Subd. 2. Design.
After consultation with the United States Olympic Committee, the registrar shall design the special Olympic plates.
In consultation with the registrar, the Minnesota amateur sports commission annually shall indicate the number of plates the commission anticipates will be needed.
Subd. 3. Plate transfers.
Notwithstanding section 168.12, subdivision 1, on payment of a transfer fee of $5, plates issued under this section may be transferred to another passenger vehicle, pickup truck, or van owned or jointly owned by the person to whom the special plates were issued.
Subd. 4. Fees credited.
The fees collected under this section must be deposited in the state treasury and credited to the highway user tax distribution fund.
Subd. 5. Contributions.
The registrar shall issue a set of Olympic license plates under this section only to a person who presents at the time of applying for registration a receipt from the Minnesota amateur sports commission that demonstrates that the applicant has contributed at least $15 to the commission within 90 days prior to the date of the application. After the issuance of that set of Olympic license plates, the collection of subsequent contributions during the life of that set of license plates is the responsibility of the commission.
