Minn. Stat. § 367.42
Subd. 1. Powers and duties.
Notwithstanding any general or local law or charter to the contrary, any deputy constable employed on or after March 23, 1982, by a town of the state of Minnesota has the following powers and duties:
(c) to perform the following duties at the direction of the sheriff or a peace officer:

Subd. 3. Criminal records check.
No person may be employed as a deputy constable unless the person submits proof from the sheriff that the sheriff has checked the criminal records system and that the applicant has not been convicted of a felony within the past ten years.
