Acknowledgment of Statement of Conduct that Constitutes Fraud

  1. (a)

    1. (1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.
    2. (2) “Fraud” has the meaning stated in § 8-501 of the Criminal Law Article.
    3. (3) “Public assistance” means any assistance described in § 8-503 of the Criminal Law Article.
  2. (b) Each applicant for or recipient of public assistance shall:

    1. (1) read or have read to the individual a statement of the conduct that constitutes fraud; and
    2. (2) sign the statement to acknowledge that the individual understands that the penalties for fraud under § 8-503 of the Criminal Law Article are:

      1. (i) imprisonment not exceeding 3 years or a fine not exceeding $1,000 or both; and
      2. (ii) restitution.
