A committee may:

1. (1) report to the Commissioner of Correction and the Governor about the concerns of the people who reside in the vicinity of each State correctional facility assigned to the committee;
2. (2) be available to interpret programs and problems relating to each State correctional facility assigned to the committee to the people who reside in the vicinity of each facility; and
3. (3) perform other services and responsibilities considered necessary.
