Ind. Code § 8-4.5-4-2

Purposes of acquisition

The state may acquire any part of a railroad's interest in a corridor under this chapter for any of the following purposes:

  1. (1) A present or future rail line.
  2. (2) A transportation corridor.
  3. (3) A communication corridor.
  4. (4) A trail.
  5. (5) A utility corridor.
  6. (6) The preservation of a railroad corridor.
  7. (7) Any combination of purposes described in subdivisions (1) through (6).
