A charter school (as defined in IC 20-24-1-4 ) or a state accredited nonpublic school (as defined in IC 20-18-2-18.7 ) may do one (1) or more of the following:

1. (1) Designate an individual to serve as the school safety specialist for the school and comply with section 9 of this chapter.
2. (2) Establish a school safety plan in accordance with this chapter.
3. (3) Establish a safe school committee as described under section 12 of this chapter.
