All expenses incurred in the preparation, compilation, printing, binding and publication of the volumes of source and other historical material issued by the historical bureau shall be defrayed out of funds at the disposal of the bureau which may be appropriated by law for that purpose, under the terms of any contract which the state may have executed and entered into for public printing, and under the direction and supervision of the historical bureau.
