1. (a) The private investigator and security guard licensing board is established.

2. (b) The board consists of:

   1. (1) the superintendent of the state police department or the superintendent's designee; and

   2. (2) the following six (6) members appointed by the governor from different geographic regions of Indiana as determined by the governor:

      1. (A) Two (2) individuals who are associated with a private investigator firm licensed under this article.
      2. (B) Two (2) individuals who are associated with a security guard agency licensed under this article.
      3. (C) One (1) local law enforcement official.
      4. (D) One (1) person who is not associated with the private investigator firm or security guard agency other than as a consumer.
3. (c) Each member of the board appointed by the governor shall serve a term of two (2) years.
4. (d) The governor may remove a board member appointed by the governor for incompetency or failure to perform the member's duties under this chapter.
5. (e) A vacancy in the membership of the board shall be filled by appointment by the governor for the unexpired term.
6. (f) Each member of the board who is not a state employee is entitled to the minimum salary per diem provided by IC 4-10-11-2.1 (b). Each member of the board is entitled to reimbursement for traveling expenses and other expenses actually incurred in connection with the member's duties, as provided in the state travel policies and procedures established by the Indiana department of administration and approved by the budget agency.
