1. (a) The department, with the assistance of the commission for higher education, the department of education, Ivy Tech Community College, and local workforce development boards, shall annually do the following:

   1. (1) Use:

      1. (A) the information concerning workforce needs and training and education requirements of the region identified in the occupational demand report under section 10 of this chapter; and

      2. (B) the information under section 11 of this chapter concerning gaps or imbalances between the courses offered in the region and the workforce needs and training and education needs in the region;

         to develop recommendations concerning the career and technical education courses, including dual credit courses, and courses leading to a certification that should be offered at high schools within each region designated under the WIOA.

   2. (2) Report to the budget committee before January 1 of each year concerning the recommendations.
   3. (3) Report the recommendations to the board of trustees, administration, and faculty of Ivy Tech Community College at a meeting scheduled by the board of trustees of Ivy Tech Community College.
2. (b) This section expires July 1, 2020.
