The board of trustees may:

1. (1) establish a fire department and employ fire and safety personnel at the West Lafayette campus;
2. (2) determine the duties and direct the conduct of fire and safety personnel;
3. (3) prescribe distinctive uniforms for fire and safety personnel; and
4. (4) obtain emergency vehicles and equipment for the fire department.
