1. (a) This subsection expires June 30, 2017. For purposes of this chapter, "accelerated progress" means successfully completing

   1. (1) at least thirty-nine (39) credit hours or the equivalent by the end of the student's first academic year; or
   2. (2) at least seventy-eight (78) credit hours or the equivalent by the end of the student's second academic year.
2. (b) This subsection applies to an academic year beginning after August 31, 2017. For purposes of this chapter, "accelerated progress" means successfully completing at least thirty-nine (39) credit hours or the equivalent during the student's first academic year or second academic year.
