1. (a) A teacher preparation program shall include content within the curriculum that:

   1. (1) prepares teacher candidates to use evidence based trauma informed classroom instruction and recognition of social, emotional, and behavioral reactions to trauma that may interfere with a student's academic functioning; and

   2. (2) provides information on applicable Indiana laws regarding other instructional requirements and applicable Indiana laws relating to the instruction and recognition described in subdivision (1), including the following:

      1. (A) IC 20-30-5-5 .
      2. (B) IC 20-30-5-6 .
      3. (C) IC 20-30-5-13 .
      4. (D) IC 20-30-5-17 .
      5. (E) IC 20-34-3-21 .
      6. (F) IC 20-34-9 .

2. (b) The teacher preparation program shall consider using curricula that includes:

   1. (1) training on recognizing possible signs of social, emotional, and behavioral reactions to trauma;
   2. (2) training on the potential impacts of trauma;
   3. (3) strategies for recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma;
   4. (4) practical recommendations for running a trauma informed classroom; and
   5. (5) approaches for avoiding revictimization in schools.
