1. (a) This section applies to a proposed community school corporation reorganization approved by the:

   1. (1) state board; and
   2. (2) registered voters in the proposed community school corporation in an election held before July 1, 2020.

2. (b) A teacher who:

   1. (1) is employed in a school corporation subject to this chapter;
   2. (2) loses his or her job in the school corporation because of a reorganization under this chapter; and

   3. (3) not later than one (1) year after the teacher loses his or her job as described in subdivision (2), is subsequently employed by a community school corporation created by a reorganization under this chapter;

      retains the rights and privileges under IC 20-28-6 through IC 20-28-10 that the teacher held at the time the teacher lost his or her job in the original school corporation.

3. (c) This section expires July 1, 2023.
