(a) Not later than October 1, 2023, each public elementary school, including a charter school, and state accredited nonpublic elementary school shall provide to the department the following information:
- (1) Whether the school provides instruction on cursive writing to students of the school.
- (2) If the school provides cursive writing instruction, the grade level of students to whom the instruction is provided.
(b) Not later than December 1, 2023, the department shall:
- (1) prepare a report regarding the information that the department receives under subsection (a); and
- (2) submit the report described in subdivision (1) to the legislative council in an electronic format under IC 5-14-6 .
- (c) This section expires January 1, 2024.
