a) The Commission adopts as its rules the following portions of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) (1997 edition, approved June 6, 1996, published by the Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers, Inc. (IEEE), 345 East 47^th Street, New York, New York 10017):

1. 1) Section 2 (Definitions of Special Terms).
2. 2) Section 9 (Grounding Methods of Electric Supply and Communications Facilities).

b) The Commission adopts as its rules the following publications of the IEEE:

1. 1) IEEE Std 1188-1996 Recommended Practice for Maintenance, Testing, and Replacement of Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) Batteries for Stationary Applications.
2. 2) IEEE Std 450-1995 Recommended Practice for Maintenance, Testing and Replacement of Lead Acid Batteries for Stationary Applications.
