1. A state historical society board of trustees is established consisting of seven members selected as follows:
- a. Two members shall be elected by the members of the state historical society according to rules established by the board of trustees.
- b. The governor shall appoint five members from the state at large, considering but not requiring geographical diversity, at least one of whom shall be on the faculty of a college or university in the state engaged in a discipline related to the activities of the historical society.
- 2. The term of office of members of the board of trustees is three years beginning on July 1 and ending June 30. The terms of office of the governor’s appointees are staggered terms of three years each, so that three members are appointed each year.
