Rule 672-12-.02. Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5307 Program
- (1) Scope and Purpose. To provide grants to urbanized areas to fund capital projects, operating assistance, and for transportation-related planning.
- (2) Terms and Conditions. All eligible applicants under 200,000 population must complete an application as outlined in the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) State Management Plan. The applicant must also adhere to all FTA regulations outlined in Circular 9030.1E.
- (3) Eligible Recipients. Designated governmental public body that has the legal authority to receive and dispense Federal funds.
- (4) Criteria for Award. Applicants must submit a grant application to GDOT along with a Program of Projects (POP). The POP must originate from the applicable transportation planning process, be contained in the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and be included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The grant application is reviewed and approved by FTA subject to Federal funding availability.
- (5) Directions and Deadlines. Each year, typically in August, GDOT advises its subrecipients of the availability of FTA funds, including apportioned funds to specific areas, and announces a call for projects for the subsequent fiscal year. The application procedures are outlined in the annual call for projects. The deadline is specified in the annual call for projects.
