Rule 506-1-.01. Definitions

The following terms as used in these rules shall have the following meanings unless clearly indicated otherwise by the content:

1. (a) Commission. The Professional Practices Commission of the State of Georgia.
2. (b) Elementary School. School settings designated by grade levels kindergarten through eight (K-8).
3. (c) Local Board. Any board of Education of a country, city, independent, or area school system.
4. (d) Local Superintendent. The Superintendent of Schools of a Local School System.
5. (e) Professional Standards Commission. The Professional Standards Commission of the State of Georgia.
6. (f) Secondary School. School settings designated by grade levels nine through twelve (9-12).
7. (g) State Board. The Board of Education of the State of Georgia.
8. (h) State Department. The State Department of Education of the State of Georgia.
9. (i) State Superintendent. The State Superintendent of Schools of the State of Georgia.
10. (j) Teacher. (Sometimes also referred to as "educator.") Any holder of a valid Georgia Educator Certificate issued by the Professional Standards Commission.
11. (k) Teaching. Any professional service, including administrative and supervisory activities, rendered or performed by a teacher.
