Advanced Certification Requirements

Effective Oct 19, 2025Published Sep 29, 2025O.C.G.A. § 35-8-7(16).GEORGIA PEACE OFFICER STANDARDS AND TRAINING COUNCIL

Each person applying for Advanced level certification must:

  1. (a) Possess or be able to possess the Intermediate Certificate; and
  2. (b) Be a certified, registered or exempt peace officer in good standing; and
  3. (c) Have at least four (4) years' experience as a full-time, paid peace officer;
  4. (d) Complete 150 additional hours of P.O.S.T. approved Specialized or Advanced Training.
