The Comptroller is authorized to engage the full-time services of two law enforcement officers, with power of arrest, to prevent all acts of a criminal nature directed at the property in the custody or control of the Comptroller. While so assigned, said officers shall be under the direction and supervision of the Comptroller, and their salaries and expenses shall be paid from the general fund of the office of Comptroller.
