1. (1) In accordance with the provisions of Section 464.012, F.S., any person who wishes to be licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse shall submit a completed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Application, form number DH-MQA 1124, 4/2021, hereby incorporated by reference and available at HYPERLINK "http://www.flrules.org/Gateway/reference.asp?No=Ref-13335" http://www.flrules.org/Gateway/reference.asp?No=Ref-13335, and Financial Responsibility, form number DH-MQA 1186, 12/2021, hereby incorporated by reference and available at HYPERLINK "http://www.flrules.org/Gateway/reference.asp?No=Ref-14025" http://www.flrules.org/Gateway/reference.asp?No=Ref-14025, or from the Board office or on the Board’s website: www.FloridasNursing.gov.
2. (2) At initial licensure and renewal, provide proof of certification by an appropriate specialty board obtained by passing a national certification examination.

3. (3) Nursing specialty boards shall meet the following standards:

   1. (a) Attest to the competency of nurses in a clinical specialty area;
   2. (b) Require a written examination prior to certification;
   3. (c) Require (and required at the time of original certification) completion of a formal program leading to a master’s or doctoral degree in advanced nursing practice prior to eligibility of examination;
   4. (d) Maintain a program accreditation or review mechanism that adheres to criteria which are substantially equivalent to requirements in Florida;
   5. (e) Identify standards or scope of practice statements as appropriate for the specialty.
