Each permit for water use shall be assigned one or more classifications according to the source(s) of supply, method(s) of withdrawal, and use(s) of the water. The classifications shall be as follows:

1. (1) Source of Supply Classes.

   1. (a) Surface Water. Withdrawals from surfacewater bodies shall be classified by the basin or subbasin as specified by the rule or by the specific surfacewater source.
   2. (b) Ground Water. Withdrawals from groundwater aquifers shall be classified as either Confined Floridan Aquifer, Unconfined Floridan Aquifer. Artesian Aquifer, or Surficial Aquifer.
   3. (c) Alternative Water Supplies.

2. (2) Method of Withdrawal Classes.

   1. (a) Pumped.
   2. (b) Diverted.

3. (3) Water Use Classes and Subclasses.

   1. (a) Agricultural.

      Freeze Protection

   2. (b) Commercial.

      Beverage Processing

   3. (c) Public Supply.
   4. (d) Diversion and Impoundment.
   5. (e) Other.

   6. (f) Industrial.

      Power Generation.

   7. (g) Institutional.
   8. (h) Landscape Irrigation.
   9. (i) Mining/Dewatering.

   10. (j) Recreation.

       These classifications do not establish either reasonable-beneficial use, or any priority ranking of source, withdrawal method, or water use classes.
