The following positions set forth in this chapter shall be exempt from Chapter 59 of this title:

1. (1) Secretary of Public Safety;
2. (2) Superintendent of State Police;
3. (3) Director of Civil Defense;
4. (4) Director of the Division of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Marijuana Enforcement;
5. (5) Director of the Division of Forensic Science; and
6. (6) Chief Medical Examiner.
