399.1 When used in this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meaning ascribed:

Act - the District of Columbia Taxicab Establishment Act of 1985 as amended (33 D.C. Official Code §§ 50-301 to 50-320 (2001)).

Administrative Procedure Act - the District of Columbia Administrative Procedure Act, as amended (D.C. Official Code §§ 2-501 to 2-511 (2001)).

Chairperson - the Chairperson of the Commission, either as a nonvoting member of the Panel or hearing panel; or as the superintendent of the Office.

Commission - the District of Columbia Taxicab Commission established under § 5 of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-304 (2001)).

Day - calendar days, unless otherwise expressly defined.

District or D.C. - the District of Columbia.

Hearing Panel - the component of the Panel designated to exercise the Panel's adjudicatory authority.

Office - the Office of Taxicabs established under § 13 of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-312 (2001)).

Panel - the Panel on Adjudication of the Commission, established under § 8(b)(2) of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-307(b)(2) (2001)).

Passenger Vehicle for Hire - the same meaning as in § 3(6) of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-303(6) (2001)).

Person - every natural person, corporation, association or co-partnership. Secretary - the Secretary to the Panel appointed under § 300.4.

Taxi or Taxicab - the same meaning as in § 3(8) of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-303(8) (2001)).

Taxicab Association - the same meaning as in §3(9) of the Act (D.C. Code § 50-303(9) (2001))

Taxi or Taxicab Company - the same meaning as in § 3(10) of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-303(10) (2001)).

Taxi or Taxicab Fleet - the same meaning as in § 3(11) of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-303(11) (2001)).

Taxi or Taxicab Operator - the same meaning as in § 3(13) of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-303(13) (2001)).

Taxi or Taxicab Owner - the same meaning as in § 3(14) of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 50-303(14) (2001)).
