2205.1 Data from the District Department of Employment Services (DOES) and the Office of Planning (OP) indicates there were 35,141 jobs in Rock Creek East in 2015, primarily in health care, local-serving businesses, public schools, and government. This represents four percent of the city's job base. The largest employment centers are hospitals, including the Washington Hospital Center, the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Children's National Medical Center, and the VA Medical Center.

2205.2 The Planning Area's median household income was $73,464 in 2017, which was slightly lower than the District-wide median of $77,649. Approximately 12 percent of the area's residents were below the federal poverty line. This is below the District-wide total of 17.4 percent.
