1. (a) The judges of the Superior Court shall appoint official court reporters for the court as the judges or an authorized committee thereof determines the business of the court requires.
2. (b) A person shall not be appointed a court reporter under the provisions of this section who has not passed the entry level examination provided for under section 51-63 and a reporter shall not be placed in the higher court reporter salary classification who has not passed the examination provided for in said section for such higher classification, provided each person serving on July 1, 1978, as a court reporter or assistant court reporter in the Court of Common Pleas shall continue to serve in the Superior Court for the balance of the term for which he was appointed. In no event shall the compensation of such person be affected solely as a result of the transfer of jurisdiction provided in section 51-164s.
