1.00 Statement of Basis and Purpose

1. Pursuant to 22-2-106 (1)(a) and 22-2-107(1)(c), C.R.S., the State Board of Education shall promulgate and adopt policies, rules and regulations concerning general supervision of the public schools, the department, and the educational programs maintained and operated by all state governmental agencies for persons who have not completed the twelfth-grade level of instruction. Section 22-33-102 (8.5) authorizes the State Board of education to approve the High School Equivalency Examination(s) utilized in Colorado.

2.00 Definitions

2.00(1) Department: The Department of Education created pursuant to section 24-1-115, C.R.S. 2.00(2) High School Equivalency Diploma: means a diploma issued by the Department of Education which indicates that the holder has met the minimum score requirements on the State Board approved high school equivalency examination(s).

2.00(3) High School Equivalency Examination(s): The State-Board-approved battery of tests that are designed to measure the major outcomes and concepts generally associated with four years of high school education pursuant to section 22-33-102 (8.5), C.R.S.

3.00 Issuing of the Credential

The Colorado High School Equivalency Diploma will be issued by the Colorado Department of Education to all qualified candidates on receipt of the minimum proficiency level.

4.00 State Program Fees
