- (a) The Governor shall serve as one member of the Southern States Energy Board or may appoint another person to serve as his or her representative. Either the Governor or the person appointed by the Governor may designate another person as a deputy or assistant to that member.
- (b) The President Pro Tempore of the Senate shall appoint one member of the Southern States Energy Board from among the membership of the Senate. The President Pro Tempore of the Senate or the member may designate another person as a deputy or assistant to that member.
- (c) The Speaker of the House of Representatives shall appoint one member of the Southern States Energy Board from among the membership of the House of Representatives. The Speaker of the House of Representatives or the member may designate another person as a deputy or assistant to that member.
- (d) Pursuant to Article II of the compact, members shall serve at the pleasure of their appointive authority for a term of four years. If any member is the head of a department or agency of this state, he or she may designate a subordinate officer or employee of his or her department or agency to serve in his or her stead as permitted by Article II(a) of the compact and in conformity with any applicable bylaws of the board.
