CHAPTER 2

Definitions

Section 1. Definitions. As used in these rules:

1. (a) “CODIS” means the Combined DNA Index System from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
2. (b) “Division” means the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
3. (c) “Forensic genetic genealogy” or “FGG” means performing DNA testing and genealogical research on forensic samples in order to find the identity of a person.
4. (d) “Law Enforcement Agency” or “Agency” means a government entity employing peace officers responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the enforcement of penal, traffic, regulatory or criminal laws.
5. (e) “NamUs” means the United States Department of Justice’s National Missing and Unidentified Persons databases.
6. (f) “ViCAP” means the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crime Apprehension Program.
7. (g) “Violent crime” means homicide, sex crimes, and other serious criminal offenses as determined by the Division.
