W. Va. Const. art. VII, § 2
An election for governor, secretary of state, auditor, treasurer, commissioner of agriculture and attorney general shall be held at such times and places as may be prescribed by law.

This section, prior to its amendment, read as follows: “An election for governor, State superintendent of free schools, auditor, treasurer, and attorney general, shall be held at such times and places as may be prescribed in this Constitution or by general law.” The second amendment was proposed by Senate Joint Resolution No. 1, Acts 1957, p. 837; submitted by Acts 1957, c. 19; and ratified November 4, 1958. The amendment deleted “State superintendent of free schools,” and added “commissioner of agriculture.”]
