When federal funds are provided for a project, the federal agency funding the project may, grant the acquiring or displacing agency a waiver of certain federal requirements that are not otherwise required by state law if it determines that the waiver does not reduce any assistance or protection provided to an owner or displaced person under this chapter. Any request for a waiver by an acquiring or displacing agency shall be justified on a case-by-case or project basis.
