Apprenticeship training is a work-based employment and training program registered with the Washington state department of labor and industries that provides:

1. (1) A combination of hands-on, on-the-job work experience in a skilled occupation with related classroom instruction;
2. (2) Structured mentoring;
3. (3) Wage increases as an apprentice's skills increase; and
4. (4) An industry recognized certificate of completion at the end of the program.
