The facility must:

1. (1) Provide handrails on each side of all corridors and stairwells accessible to residents and ensure that:

   1. (a) Ends of handrails are returned to the walls;
   2. (b) Handrails are mounted thirty to thirty-four inches above the floor; and
   3. (c) Handrails terminate not more than six inches from a door.
2. (2) Equip stairways with more than one riser and ramps with slopes greater than one in twenty with handrails on both sides. Ensure that ends of handrails are designed in a manner that eliminates a hooking hazard.
3. (3) Must maintain nonskid surfaces on all stairways and ramps used by residents.
